Agriculture is big business in Blair County. It’s our largest industry sector and contributor to the local GDP. The Chamber was pleased to host PA Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding at its June Breakfast Club. The Secretary’s presentation discussed current market trends impacting the agriculture sector and public policies being considered to help advance the industry.
The Team Pennsylvania Foundation recently released the Pennsylvania Agriculture Economic Analysis 2025, which highlights the sector’s strengths and growth opportunities, focusing on trends from 2012 through 2022. The analysis emphasizes agriculture’s crucial role in the state’s economy, with a particular focus on food processing and forestry processing. Key areas include harnessing technology, enhancing international trade, and strengthening the internal value chain.
