6 to 10 Trail

The 6 to 10 Trail runs for 10 miles from Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site in Gallitzin to Dry Run Road near Duncansville. The trail is known for opportunities to view the many types of wildlife in the area and the history of the trail is quite fascinating.

Allegheny Ridge Heritage Area

This Heritage and Recreation Corridor features historic communities including Altoona, Johnstown and Blairsville; Interpretive Sites Hollidaysburg Canal Basin Park and Saltsburg Canal Park and recreation opportunities including, the Lower, 6 to 10, the West Penn, the Roaring Run Trails and the Kiski-Conemaugh and Juniata River Water Trail Systems.

Bald Eagle State Park

There are seven main trails at Bald Eagle State Park.

Black Moshannon State Park Trails

Black Moshannon State Park has 20 miles of hiking trails and over 14 trails. The state park has 3,394 acres of forests and wetlands and conserves unique, natural environments.

Blair County Dog Park

Blair County’s only off-leash dog park. Fee-based, private 501(c)3 organization, a 10-acre park with 5 acres fenced with separate areas for large dogs, small dogs, a canine sports arena and behavioral training.

Canal Basin Park

This Historical PA Canal Basin Park features a custom-designed play structure replicating a Sectional Canal Boat and a Visitors Center located in a restored house from the Victorian period known as the Reiser House. Park hours dawn to dusk. Admission is free.

Canoe Creek State Park

Enjoy a day of hiking, swimming, fishing, camping and more! Visit one of the main features at Canoe Creek State Park, the historic Limestone Kilns and enjoy sighting woodland birds and wildflowers along the way. Nature programs, education center and guided hikes are also available.

The Central Blair Recreation and Park Commission provides recreation and leisure-time services to the citizens of Central PA.

Chimney Rocks Park, Hollidaysburg

Beautiful park overlooking historic Hollidaysburg. Picnic areas, trails, overlooks, concerts and other community activities.

Discovery Garden

A beautiful setting for people of all ages and abilities to relax and enjoy nature. There is an adjoining Kids’ Kingdom Play Park. The garden is a wheelchair-accessible public garden developed as a community resource.

Fort Roberdeau Historic Site

Fort Roberdeau opened in May 1778 to protect an important lead mining and smelting operation during the American Revolution. With 230-acres, Fort Roberdeau, a national historic site, features the reconstructed Revolutionary War fort, buildings and smelter, a restored 19th century farmhouse and barn, a modern multi-purpose building (White Oak Hall), Space and Time Discovery Trail, Blue Bird Nature Trail, gazebos, and picnic tables. Stop in the gift shop for a guided tour of the fort grounds. The Fort buildings are open May 1-October 31, Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 1pm-4pm. The park grounds are open 8am-sunset year-round.

Ghost Town Trail

Natural beauty, fascinating historical features, and length: The Ghost Town Trail is a 49-mile long, rails to trails, trail that blends these qualities and throws in a bit of challenge for flavor.

Greenwood Furnace State Park Trails

Greenwood Furnace State Park lies near the town of Belleville. The park covers 423 acres and has 10 trails including the Standing Stone Trail which has its endpoint here.

Juniata River Water Trail

Flowing through a rural landscape, this trail offers good fishing, camping and opportunities to connect with nature, history and culture along 142 miles of flat, easy water paddling.

Mountain Lion Observatory at Fort Roberdeau

Experience the dark Sinking Valley night sky with interesting and education programs led by local astronomers who are both knowledgeable and entertaining. Peer through top notch telescopes and enjoy presentations, demonstrations and hands-on science activities. Check Facebook and website for special events.

NatureWorks Park

Blair County’s first environmental-specific outdoor education and recreation area. The 15 acres include wetlands, pavilions, trails and an amphitheater.

Ohiopyle State Park Trails

Over 20 thousand acres of natural beauty constitute the Ohiopyle State Park. The park offers a wide variety of activity options, including hiking, biking, snowmobiling, white water rafting and much more. Nearly 1.5 million people visit this park each year for recreation and relaxation.

Prince Gallitzen State Park

Prince Gallitzin State Park, and Glendale Lake offer hikers many opportunities to observe various wildlife and enjoy scenic views. The lake has 26 miles of shoreline and there are over 30 miles of trails. Prince Gallitzin is a favorite of those who enjoy fishing, camping, boating and other outdoor activities.

Rails To Trails of Central PA – The Lower Trail

17-mile long trail including grade-separated connection to Canoe Creek State Park and 6 trailheads for hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, nature studies, cross-country skiing, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and other non-motorized recreation.

Rails To Trails of Central PA – Bells Gap Trail

Trail meanders gently through the bends of the Allegheny Front, across mountain creeks and offers stunning views of the valley. Trailhead parking lot includes picnic table, picnic pavilion and a portable toilet.

Reservoir Park

33 acres of land with an amphitheater, playground equipment and numerous picnic pavilions. Reservoir Park is maintained by Tyrone Borough.

Shawnee State Park Trails

Shawnee State Park has 9 hiking trails among its 3,983 acres. The park is on US 30 in Bedford County. There is also a 451-acre lake at this park.

The Wall That Heals

A one-half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. Located on the grounds of the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center. Visitors welcome 24/7/365. No admission cost. Free parking.

Trough Creek State Park Trails

Just south of Huntingdon, Trough Creek State Park is 541 acres of scenic landscapes and waterfalls. The park boasts 12 miles of hiking trails with sights like the Balanced Rock and Rainbow Falls, and it borders Raystown Lake with all of its beautiful scenery.

Valley View County Park

Playing fields, pavilion and amphitheater rental, disc golf course, playground, trails and more. To reserve the pavilion or amphitheater, call and ask for park reservations.

Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site

The Allegheny Portage Railroad was the first railroad constructed over the Allegheny Mountains. It played a critical role in opening the interior of the United States to trade and settlement. There is a visitor center, exhibits, trail, film, historic railroad remains, Lemon House and Staple Bend Tunnel.
