Sponsorship Program
Discover Blair County (DBC) is Blair County’s official destination marketing organization. Our mission is to promote, leverage and support Blair County’s: 1) events, lodging, and meeting venues; 2) historic, cultural and art centers; and 3) public and private active recreation assets that attract business and leisure visitors for overnight stays in Blair County Pennsylvania.
DBC’s sponsorship program is designed to financially support events and programs in Blair County that effectively demonstrate the ability to target and attract outside leisure or business visitors who stay for one or multiple nights in a Blair County lodging facility.
Funding from DBC is intended to be used by the recipient to augment the cost of external advertising, social media campaigns or other communication and promotional mediums in primary mid-Atlantic markets which include the Washington DC metroplex, Philadelphia/New York corridor and the Pittsburgh/Cleveland region.
To be considered for DBC sponsorship, potential recipients must:
- Submit your written request for sponsorship at least 3 months prior to the event or program.
- Submit a written narrative/plan informing us of your social media and overall communication outreach strategy. It should demonstrate your capacity to execute and target the key markets of your narrative/plan/strategy.
- Provide estimates of:
- Total number of attendees you expect to attract
- Number of attendees estimated to attend from outside of Blair County
- Eestimated number of overnight stays your event will generate
If awarded a DBC sponsorship grant recipients should:
- Include a Discover Blair County lodging logo and links (QR Code, hashtags, links to all DBC social media) on all electronic, video or print mediums that promote an event for which DBC is a sponsor.
- Recipients are encouraged, when possible, to use the phrase “Discover Blair County” in any voice over/narrative associated with advertising campaigns.
- In the case of an event having a formal registration form or ticket purchase, recipients are strongly encouraged to include the questions “Are you Staying in a Blair County Hotel?” if so, “How many nights?”
- Following the event, recipients are required to provide Discover Blair County with primary impact metrics to include the number of registrants/attendees, social media analytics and other traditional advertising market reach data that may have been utilized. Beyond the quantifiable metrics, recipients are encouraged to provide unique stories or quantitative outcomes because of the event.
DBC’s sponsorship program is open year-round as budgetary funding levels permit. Recipients that demonstrate effective visitor attractions can be funded in consecutive years. Levels of sponsorship are determined by the DBC Advisory Board and staff based on the estimated outside visitor attraction levels and effectiveness of proposed external communications strategies.
